Overview

Founded in 1999, Jordan Bromine Company (JBC) is the pioneering producer, manufacturer, and distributor of bromine (Br) and bromine derivatives in The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the second largest in the world. Through a joint venture between Arab Potash Company (APC) and Albemarle Holdings LTC, JBC utilizes more than 130 years of business and manufacturing know-how; we stand on the shoulders of giants. With footprints in over 30 countries, we have successfully integrated ourselves into global markets; firmly contributing to the diverse landscape of industries and sectors that keeps our planet in motion.

History

  • JBC is established as a joint venture between Arab Potash Company and Albemarle Holdings.
  • JBC is up and running as the first Bromine manufacturer in Jordan.
  • JBC is registered as a private free-zone establishment in Jordan’s Safi Valley.
  • JBC begins manufacturing Hydrogen Bromide (HBr), Calcium Bromide (CaBr), and Sodium Bromide (NaBr) JBC becomes an authorized exporter of Br and Br derivatives in Europe.
  • JBC CP 2000 plant goes into full operation.
  • JBC receives the IMDG, ADR, and IATA certifications JBC Chlorine facility becomes fully operational.
  • The PETRA Expansion Project commences the growth and development of JBC’s production facilities.
  • JBC initiates the expansion of the Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) facilities.

Locations

Safi

The plant in Safi consists of all required units, including water supply facilities, boilers to generate steam, compressed nitrogen, compressed air and treated water units which are essentially to run the industrial plants. All raw and packaging materials that are required for the manufacturing and packaging processes are stored in Safi.

Aqaba

Aqaba port terminal
JBC ships products in bulk through a storage terminal in Aqaba. There are storage tanks as well as pumps and piping for loading these products into ships.
Main activities at Aqaba are raw material product storing, importing and exporting. Products are sent and received to/from Aqaba site using road tankers (trucks) and iso-tanks

We are globally present because of our values. Our diligence and commitment to excellence have placed Jordan on the global map. We were the first company of its kind to become an authorized exporter to Europe. Today, we are also proud to have our products available in 30+ countries in the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.

To ensure our procedures operate with fluidity we have aligned our strategic approach with Lloyd’s Register - Integrated Management System (IMS:ISO9001:2015, ISO45001:2018, ISO14001:2015) to achieve optimal performance and output. Moreover, to safeguard our processes from systematic errors, JBCs senior management routinely monitors IMS procedures to guarantee compliance with our business objectives and strategies.
